MAVERIK is part of the GNU project. If you
would like to use MAVERIK but are prevented from distributing
your work by the GPL,
please look here.
Maverik is "Free" software covered by the GNU General Public
License, and you don't need any permission to download, use or
modify it. You should, however, read the notices contained in
each package to make sure you understand the conditions that do
apply to their usage.
We would be interested to know what MAVERIK is
being used for. If you have a specific project in mind that you
might use MAVERIK for, or already use MAVERIK for something we
would like to hear from you. Please e-mail us.

Caveat: MAVERIK is not an end-user application.
If you are looking for something like a downloadable game to
try, you are likely to be disappointed with MAVERIK. If you are
developing VR software though, then MAVERIK may by just what
you need.
If you have any questions about the
distribution, feel free to email us at maverik@aig.cs.man.ac.uk.
Downloading the software
MAVERIK is distributed as two packages:
- The MAVERIK microkernel, supporting modules,
documentation and tutorial examples.
- The MAVERIK demo suite, containing more substantial
demonstrations. Some of these are quite large, and you really
need 3D acceleration hardware to get interactive performance
from them. Have a look at the movies in the applications gallery to see how
they perform on a PC with acceleration.
Notes
- Use the zip file for compiling with Microsoft Visual C++
and other native Windows compilers.
- Use the tar.gz file for compiling with Cygwin. Also,
unpack this file with tar rather than WinZip.
